Licensed Mental Health Counselor • Seattle, WA
I help adults navigate anxiety, depression, substance use, and the moments that feel too heavy to carry alone.
I'm Elias Thorne, a licensed mental health counselor and substance use disorder professional practicing in the Seattle area. I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, relationship difficulties, and the kinds of life transitions that can leave you feeling unmoored.
My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely heard — not analyzed from a distance, but met where you are. I draw on evidence-based modalities and tailor each session to what you actually need, not a one-size-fits-all script.
Persistent worry, panic, social anxiety, overwhelm — learning to quiet the noise and find ground again.
Low motivation, numbness, hopelessness — reconnecting with meaning and the things that matter to you.
Alcohol, drugs, behavioral patterns — working toward sobriety, harm reduction, or a healthier relationship with substances.
Past experiences that still shape your present — processing pain at a pace that feels safe and sustainable.
Communication struggles, trust, boundaries, attachment — building healthier patterns with the people in your life.
Career shifts, divorce, loss, identity changes — finding your footing when the ground shifts beneath you.
I don't believe in a single "right" way to do therapy. Instead, I integrate evidence-based approaches and adapt to what resonates with you. Our work together might draw from:
Identifying and reshaping thought patterns that keep you stuck.
Exploring ambivalence and strengthening your own motivation for change.
Building present-moment awareness and reducing reactivity.
Focusing on strengths and practical steps toward the life you want.
If something in your life feels stuck, heavy, or unmanageable — that's enough. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. A good first step is the free consultation call, where we can talk through what you're experiencing and whether my approach might help.
An LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) holds a master's degree and has completed extensive supervised clinical hours. In Washington State, LMHCs are fully licensed to diagnose and treat mental health conditions. My additional SUDP credential means I'm also specifically trained in substance use disorder treatment.
No. As a counselor, I provide talk therapy and behavioral interventions. If medication might be helpful, I can coordinate with your primary care provider or refer you to a psychiatrist who can prescribe and manage medication alongside our work together.
It depends entirely on your goals and situation. Some people benefit from a focused 8–12 session arc; others prefer ongoing support over months or longer. We'll check in regularly about how things are going and adjust the plan together.
Yes, with very few legal exceptions (imminent danger to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order). I'll go over confidentiality in detail during our first session so you know exactly where you stand.
Yes. I offer secure video sessions for clients located anywhere in Washington State. Many clients find telehealth just as effective as in-person sessions, and it can make consistent attendance much easier.
Reaching out is often the hardest part. Whether you're sure about starting therapy or just exploring the idea, I'm happy to talk it through. The initial consultation is free and comes with zero pressure.
